Director of Business Development
The Director of Business Development will be a key member of the management team and will be responsible for developing new business relationships and strategic alliances and managing partnerships to grow SecondSpace business. This person will be focused both on the specific operating objectives of the company and on larger corporate development initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Lead in all aspects of deal development prospecting, sourcing, negotiating and closing. This will include strategic partnerships, distribution deals, and corporate development. The role will also work closely with Product on product technology partnerships and product enhancement relationships.
- Identify and develop 3rd party affiliate partnerships to drive new traffic to SecondSpace network of sites.
- Evaluate new customers, businesses, technologies and corporate alliances. Ensure execution of creative deals with business partners.
- Contribute to product and strategy development efforts. Work closely with Product, marketing, and technology leads. Create business plans.
- Perform detailed business analysis and modeling to evaluate new business, partnership, and product opportunities.
- Identify, negotiate, and execute acquisitions of technology assets, product additions, and entire companies, as appropriate. Present recommendations to Board of Directors.
- Drive effective visibility in the industry and ensure that SecondSpace is top of mind with potential business and strategic partners.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of deal making experience is required and ability to manage all aspects of deal process
- Proven track record of initiating and successfully driving new business opportunities.
- Direct experience and network of contacts in the internet, rural retreats, resorts, vacation homes and related lifestyle focused services industries
- Experience in negotiating major distribution deals, co-marketing and licensing agreements
- Strong negotiation, analytical problem-solving, and deal structuring skills
- Internet savvy
- Strong communication, and oral presentation skills
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- BS/BA required - MBA preferred

The Lifestyle Affinity Network is one of SecondSpace's core assets and we are looking for more people to help drive that business. We have a powerful toolset that allows our staff to create tightly-woven, immersive experiences on our partner websites with a CSS-driven, liquid layout system. Responsibilities:
- Create highly functional, pixel-perfect layouts of our website based on the design of our partner sites. You'll join a team that builds dozens of sites per month from scratch using our powerful content management system, CSS tweaks and your keen eye for design.
- Cross-browser and cross-platform design reviews of your own implementations as well as buddy-builds with other members of the team.
- Rapid and high-quality deployment of custom partner websites using CSS
- Produce accurate and high quality work with a great attention to detail
- Work with product manager to manage workflow, team assignments and deadlines on multiple, simultaneous projects
- Work with product management team to create online layout templates, color palettes, typography and user interface elements, style guides as well as HTML/CSS templates
- Constant interaction with product management team to ensure service levels are meeting business needs
- Oversee and often contribute to the development of visual UI mock-ups/comps and interactive prototypes
- Work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Creation and management of web production schedules, estimates and internal budgets
Qualifications:
- College degree of BFA/BA in art, design communication, BA in journalism, English or any related field
- Must be proficient with Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, etc
- Must be highly competent with HTML/CSS
- Familiarity with branding, typography, illustration, stock photography manipulation and web color theory
- 2-4 years of online production experience
- Ability to independently coordinate and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
- Excellent written, oral & proofreading skills.
